Notes-vember Day 22

Hey Sweeties,

It’s Day 22! Thanksgiving is almost here. What are you thankful for this year? Have you ever been grateful for the same thing more than once? I find myself whispering to myself many times about something I received or accomplished weeks, months, or even years ago.

When I think about those things, I sometimes tear up because I’m so happy. So I thank the ones I’m able to thank, personally and others I whisper it to myself.

Motivation

We take care of the future best by taking care of the present now.

Jon Kabat-Zinn

Reflection

As you sit down, take a deep breath, and relax, think about the things you’ve been thankful for multiple times. Then, if it’s a person, thank them again.

Notes-vember Day 21

Hey Sweeties,

It’s day 21. What does the number 21 remind you of? Maybe nothing to you, but the number 21 reminds me of a point in my life where I felt I was learning the most about life. I’m not talking about partying and having a good time with friends. I’m talking about learning situations, people, and actions on an entirely different level.

Going through all that I went through from the time I turned 21 until I met my husband prepared me for him and him for me. Two different people on EVERYTHING came to have so many things in common.

Motivation

You only get your needs met when you share your truth.

Damona Hoffman

Reflection

  • At what age do you feel you experienced the most eyeopening situations?
  • How has it shaped you and are you proud of who you are right here, right now?
  • Do you feel it prepared you for yesterday, today, and tomorrow?

I’m proud of myself; I’m proud of the man I married, with all the differences, the learning, the struggles, EVERYTHING.

As you sit down, take a deep breath, and relax, think about everything around you. Think about how the moves you made back then paved the way for today. Remember, what we do affects everything else, even when something is meant to be. It only changes the route; it doesn’t stop it.

Notes-vember Day 20

Hey Sweeties,

It’s day 20, or should I say night 20! Today was full of fun work and projects. Even though I went through the day with a pounding headache, I made it through by not thinking about it.

I said that to say this. I didn’t dwell on what could’ve had me in the bed with my head buried under the covers. Instead, I pushed through and forgot about my headache.

Motivation

Keep your mind open. The meaning of things lies in how people perceive them. The same thing could mean different meanings to the same people at different times.

Roy T. Bennett

Reflection

As you sit down, take a deep breath, and relax, think about one thing that can be called the same thing but have different meanings or what can be called something different but have the same meanings.

What you call a headache may not be a headache for me and vice versa.

Notes-vember Day 19

Hey Sweeties,

It’s Day 19, the last day of school, a week before the Thanksgiving holiday, and another step forward. When stepping forward, you’re focused on the things to come and not the things that hold you back. You think about all opportunities, blessings, and successes, not the mistakes you made. A lesson lived is a lesson learned, right? Let it go.

Motivation

Concentration is the root of all the higher abilities in man.

Bruce Lee

If you put the amount of time into focusing on what makes you a better person as you do something harmful or that hurts you, you’d be in a better place. It’s so easy to be upset or frown because it gets you nowhere but where misery wants you. But, on the other hand, when you take the time to smile and be happy, your environment and those around you favor you. So, if it takes a little time to train yourself to focus, work at it, it’s worth it. Learn to lose the distractions and leave what doesn’t work where it’s standing.

Reflection

As you sit back, take a deep breath, and relax, think about what you’re most focused on.

Notes-vember Day 18

Hey Sweeties,

Day 18 is here, and so are you! I’m ready for this weekend, are you? I have cakes and cookies in the forecast. I’m going to be prepping for The Cookie Club and making much-requested snacks by the family.

Let’s Talk

We make our day what it is. We choose to be happy or sad, work or not work, eat or not eat. You catch my drift. I choose not to let anyone or anything negative dictate my life in a way that gives it or them complete control. I’m saying that things happen, and we may not like what happens, but we have the power to control how we handle it. We talked about that before.

Let’s think about it this way; I choose not to let my bad mood dictate my life in a way that gives it complete control. It’s not always others; sometimes, it’s US. We can be just as against ourselves as those we call the enemy. Some may not believe it, but we can cause our pain, and we can disappoint ourselves.

So, let’s not pass the blame when we can be the cause of our bad mood. We’ve talked about the outside negativity, so now we need to talk about the self-negativity. We’re all human, and we all do it. Don’t act like it’s not you. Accept it and push through it. If you put yourself there, you can get yourself out of it. Have you ever heard someone say that anything you can do, you can help?

Before you think it…

I didn’t wake up in a bad mood this morning. Nor did anyone upset me. I spoke on this because it needed to be said. If we’re going to work on the outside, we have to work on the inside too. Just as someone is on the outside looking in, you’re on the inside looking out.

Motivation

Get rid of the things in your life that do not feed who you want to become.

Matthew McConaughey

Reflection

As you sit down, take a deep breath, and relax, think about how much work you need to do on the inside.

Notes-vember Day 17

Day 17 is here, and it’s almost time for my kids to get out for their Thanksgiving break. Their last day is Friday, and they’re out all next week. No school until the 29th. This is going to be something else. I still have to work, and the hubs still has to work, but I’m sure the kids will love not getting up in the morning.

What’s your Thanksgiving holiday looking like? Are you going shopping? Are you visiting family or cooking at home? Do you have visitors?

Me and the hubs are from two different places and grew up eating two different types of food for Thanksgiving. We’ve been together for 11 years, and for 10 of those years, we argued and laughed about what we were eating. This is the first year where we aren’t swapping who’s cooking or bickering about the food. Instead, we’re cooking together and making things from both (what was traditional for us growing up) sides.

Motivation

We don’t want to make choices based on fear. We want to make choices based on growth, based on opportunities, based on progress.

Michelle Poler

Reflection

I would typically have something to say after the quote, but not today. So as you sit down, take a deep breath, and relax, think about what comes to your mind after reading the quote and my story. Has Notes-vember put you in a more comfortable place to finish out your post? What does my mini-story tell you?

Notes-vember Day 16

Hey Sweeties,

It’s day 16! Where are we today? We are one step closer to whatever goal we set, one step closer to a different us, one step closer to wherever it is we’re going.

I was listening to a podcast that my husband shares with me throughout the week, and the one thing that came up more to me is the one thing I HAD the most issues with, not letting go of something that happened to me, always having my guard up and not trusting anyone or anything.

Even though I don’t have that hold on to it to upset myself issue anymore, I’ll never forget it. Not to remind someone of what they did or how a situation went, but to remind ME that if I didn’t go through it, I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today. Just as you embrace who you are, embrace what gets you there. It’s a story to tell and motivate others. It shows people that if you do what it takes, you can make it through anything.

Motivation

At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.

Albert Schweitzer

Reflection

As you sit down, take a deep breath, and relax, think about how much we need ourselves as well as other people. If we were meant to be alone, we would’ve been given our own world to live in. Instead, we’re here to go through every level and mood of life with people. There are people for everything. People for happy, sad, pain, motivation, discouraging, etc., but it’s all about how you handle yourself with those people. The decisions you make while handling those people will determine how long they remain in your life. Never forget them.
