Maker’s Creative Collab Beach Journal

Hey Sweeties,

I joined the hop again with P. M. Artist studio and a bunch of other makers for the month of September and the Striking Sticks. This was so fun and I was happy to be back. It was like the idea to use sticks as a spine was there and waiting. If you remember the August project I did for Mrs. Sonya of Artsy Solutions and Multimedia Crafts Digital, I used sticks. I tried to make a raft, but my sticks were too small and it did good as driftwood.

As you can see, both projects are beach themed, but this one was a little more scary than the August project. Have you ever done something once and tell yourself you can’t do it again? This was one of those moments. I was so scared. I did it though and I’m so proud of myself. Would you believe that I painted another beach scene after this?

For this project I used jute twine, Himalayan pink salt, texture paste, gesso, paints, cheesecloth, coffee dyed paper, one of my digitals called My Desk Travel Journal, and my Bakers & Crafters sprays. I do have a flip-thrpugh video and a four part process video series. If you’d like to watch those, I’ll post the videos below.

March Index Card Art w/Livie’s Lovelies

Hey Sweeties,

This month, I took the index card art to a different level. I made flat cards for the first two months, and this time around, I didn’t want to do so.

I tried to stick with a bit of a grungy spring theme. Flowers, pinks, blues, yellows, and a few other colors.

At first, I didn’t like how it turned out. I got up, cleaned up, and walked away. I came back to add my finishing touches. Some gold…. I feel all my mixed media projects need gold or something related to it….well not my art journal pages.

I also recorded this in a different way. I decided to get a canvas blanket, roll it out, put my yoga mat under it, and created. This video is gonna be a bit of an odd one. I got up so many times. It’s easier to be at my desk creating versus being 3 feet away and unprepared. 🤣

Make sure yall check out what Mrs. Pham has going on in her shop and on her YouTube channel this month.

Thelisha’s Crafts & Artsy Solutions

Hey Sweeties,

For the 2022 Blog Challenge from Mrs. Sonya with Artsy Solutions, I decided to make a journal.

For this journal, I used a mix of digital paper kits from Multimedia Crafts DIGI. I have so many kits from her; I can’t stop talking bout it. The kits are well made and interchangeable with her other kits. I believe I used parts from 4-6 different kits. I have kits from a few of my favorite creators, but I haven’t pulled all of them out yet. Gotta do that more!

I also used a layer from a belt for the primary closure and velcro for the inner page closures. We have a bit of lace, cheesecloth, burlap, and faux leather also.

Check out the short version of the video here.

First Gelliuary Project

Hey Y’all,

To kick off the first of Gelliuary with a project. I made a mini journal version of what I saw from TheBookVandalShop. I watched this video so long ago. I felt the need to revisit and create it again. I love her projects

Here’s a flip through of it. I wanted to make it masculine since I always make things that seem a little more on the feminine side.

I didn’t Gelli plate the whole thing, just the signature. The pages are inserts that came with some kits. I just layered until I couldn’t see what was printed anymore. I also hit it with a few of my alcohol sprays.
