Color, Fussy Cut, Embellishments & More: Mixed Media Cookbook | Thelisha’s Crafts

Hey Sweeties,

I know it’s been a long while. I haven’t posted to my blog since July 26 or something like that. There has been so much going on between that time and now. If you want to know what’s been going on with me, check out the video below. But anyway, let’s get down to it.

I put together a project using my Breakfast Time digital. I made a cookbook with the most cooked breakfast items in my kitchen. There are a few tips in there as well. Some may be surprised that waffles aren’t on the list. I cook waffles, but for the number of waffles I need to cook, having two waffle irons isn’t enough. I will say, the pancake recipe in this book can be used as a waffle batter too. So hey, whoever this goes to didn’t completely miss out. I would love to get one of those waffle irons that you put the batter on one side and flip it to do the same on the other side. The thing is, I don’t have anywhere to put it. That would require letting go of some gadgets that I’m not ready to part ways with yet. I’m a baker as y’all know, so a lot of my gadgets are very much useful.

I had so much fun putting this together. The Breakfast Time digital started out with pancakes. I’ve been trying to draw some decent-looking pancakes for over a year now with no success. I was sitting with my daughter one night and asked her what should I draw. She said pancakes… Yeah, she took it there. So you know I had to make her proud. She already thinks I can fix and do everything. She thinks I know everything. Even after telling her and the boys that I am not a magician, a superhero, or a genius multiple times. Not to disappoint, I took it the extra mile and drew bacon, maple syrup, eggs, orange juice, and bread.

Here are a few pictures of the project. The only flip-through will be the flip-through in the video. Enjoy!

What I used in this project:

Breakfast at Thelisha’s

This cookbook will go up for sale in my store. At this time, there will only be one, but if you’d like to request one, let me know. I hope you enjoy the video, the post, and the story behind the digital. Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one.

What Am I Doing Now?: With Happy Mail  @Livie’s Lovelies by Pham  | Thelisha Shares: Happy Mail

Hey Sweeties,

In today’s post, I’m going to be using up some happy mail! I’ve only been crafting since 2019, but I find it so hard to use happy mail. Some things I can’t bring myself to use or I separate them for a project and never use it. Well, we’re going to break that habit. If you need to break that habit, pull out all that happy mail and start organizing it.

I currently have a small bin with happy mail I wanted to use for a journal. When I figured out that the grungy, vintage, steampunk, anything old-fashion, and dirty looking was my style, I got to work. I separated all my happy mail. I put the distressed-looking items in one bin, the happy, colorful stuff in another, and the stickers in another. All those bins are full and I only knocked them down slightly. It’s time to change that.

With the project I’ll be sharing here, I used the rest of the kit that I won from Mrs. Pham. One, it was smaller than all the other batches I have. Two, it can’t fit in with the other stuff. Three, I didn’t want to put it with everything else if I could because it would’ve gotten lost in the sauce. I did well with this one. I have only a little piece of pearl wrap left, the envelopes, and some sticky dots.

Here’s the video. Enjoy!

Making Clusters w/Scraps Challenge

Hey Sweeties,

Two weeks or so ago, Mrs. Pham of Livie’s Lovelies by Pham made a video about a challenge with some quick ephemera. The challenge was to make a card and send one back to her and make another to send to a friend. I won the kit and took on the challenge. Even though I’m not big on making greeting cards, I still thought it’d be fun to do it….it was and I did it. I made her a card as I was supposed to, but while I was making that card, I added a twist. I’ll be sending her the card, but I’ll also be sending her the goodies I made in the video with some pieces for her to make her own. She can take on the challenge and keep passing it along or she can keep the supplies for herself.

How Did I Pick What To Do?

I know Mrs. Pham likes my layered projects. So what better way to bless her with some layered goodies and some stuff to build her own.

I’ve been on this scraps crafting lately. I haven’t been shopping for anything but tools, and I hardly do that. I have so many paper packs and store-bought stuff that I want to use and/or get rid of. I find it more fun to use scraps. I went as far as thinking about chopping all the paper up so I can use it that way. Paper scraps are fun.

How to Participate in the Challenge

The rules for this project are similar to Mrs. Pham’s. You can participate if you’d like. Share with others, share with me, and I’ll share with you.

The rules are as follows:

  • Have fun
  • Make something easy and small (a greeting card, tag, cluster, embellishment, etc.)
  • Build a kit and send it to a friend

The only requirement with this challenge is if you request a package from me, and I send something to you, you must participate in the first round at least. The first round consists of sending something you made with items in the kit and returning one to me and sending the other to a friend. If you want to carry the challenge on, build a kit and send it. If you want to stop after the first round, just send the item you made with no kit.

If you have any questions about the challenge, comment below.

March Index Card Art w/Livie’s Lovelies

Hey Sweeties,

This month, I took the index card art to a different level. I made flat cards for the first two months, and this time around, I didn’t want to do so.

I tried to stick with a bit of a grungy spring theme. Flowers, pinks, blues, yellows, and a few other colors.

At first, I didn’t like how it turned out. I got up, cleaned up, and walked away. I came back to add my finishing touches. Some gold…. I feel all my mixed media projects need gold or something related to it….well not my art journal pages.

I also recorded this in a different way. I decided to get a canvas blanket, roll it out, put my yoga mat under it, and created. This video is gonna be a bit of an odd one. I got up so many times. It’s easier to be at my desk creating versus being 3 feet away and unprepared. 🤣

If you’d like to check out the video, click here.

Make sure yall check out what Mrs. Pham has going on in her shop and on her YouTube channel this month.

What is a “sídh”?… Wait, how do you even say that?

Hey Sweeties,

I know I don’t share many “journal with me” moments in a journal with me way, but I think I should start….maybe not using those words since they’re used so much or maybe because that doesn’t sound like me.

If you follow me outside of WordPress, I believe I put a peep in here and there of “The Word Book.” The word book is a magazine I prepped and decorated.

If you’d like to watch me create this piece, check out the video.

Thelisha’s Crafts & Artsy Solutions

Hey Sweeties,

For the 2022 Blog Challenge from Mrs. Sonya with Artsy Solutions, I decided to make a journal.

For this journal, I used a mix of digital paper kits from Multimedia Crafts DIGI. I have so many kits from her; I can’t stop talking bout it. The kits are well made and interchangeable with her other kits. I believe I used parts from 4-6 different kits. I have kits from a few of my favorite creators, but I haven’t pulled all of them out yet. Gotta do that more!

I also used a layer from a belt for the primary closure and velcro for the inner page closures. We have a bit of lace, cheesecloth, burlap, and faux leather also.

Check out the short version of the video here.

First Gelliuary Project

Hey Y’all,

To kick off the first of Gelliuary with a project. I made a mini journal version of what I saw from TheBookVandalShop. I watched this video so long ago. I felt the need to revisit and create it again. I love her projects

Here’s a flip through of it. I wanted to make it masculine since I always make things that seem a little more on the feminine side.

I didn’t Gelli plate the whole thing, just the signature. The pages are inserts that came with some kits. I just layered until I couldn’t see what was printed anymore. I also hit it with a few of my alcohol sprays.
