Beautiful Index card Art: This Was Unexpected!! No. 7 | Thelisha’s Sketches & Colors

Hey Sweeties,

In today’s post, I’ll be talking about being refreshed. So I’ll be sharing the word prompt for the 52-week Index Card Art Challenge, hosted by Mrs. Pham of Livie’s Lovelies, I’ll be sharing with you: “Refresh.”

When I drew and colored this, I had to remind myself how important it is to rest. So many of us will go, go, go and not take breaks, breathe, or check to see what time it is. Before you know it, the day is gone, and it’s time to wind down. How many of us can wind down at the end of the day? How many of us go to bed with the day replaying repeatedly?

There are some days I can wind down and some I can’t. It takes me hours to get to sleep because I’m too busy thinking about what I didn’t do and what I will do the next day. I beat myself up about what I didn’t get done instead of what I finished. I’ve been getting better, but I still have my moments. Here are a few things I do to help get to sleep in half the time it usually takes me to get to sleep.

How to Wind Down

  • Stop working on the things that keep your blood pumping at least 2 hours before you want to go to bed. Note: It’s good to have a sleep schedule. Having a sleep schedule helps you become more productive. BUT, it’s hard to pick up a sleep schedule. This is something I worked on all by itself.
  • If you must replay your day, do it once and let it go. Remind yourself of the things you accomplished and not what you didn’t. If you follow a to-do list, put those unfinished things at the top of the list for the next day.
  • Listen to something calming, read a book, watch TV, or take a shower or bath.
  • Do breathing exercises and listen to sleep stories. I have Calm, and it helps. Once, I talked so much trash about listening to a deep rest meditation that I didn’t make it halfway through it before going to sleep. When I woke up the next day, I felt better, and I didn’t remember anything passed the first 7 minutes… It’s a 27-minute meditation, and I still don’t know what’s at the midpoint or end. So I did the “unwind” and “relax” breathing exercises before I played the meditation.

Beautiful Index Card Art: This Was Unexpected!! No. 5 | Thelisha Sketches & Colors

Hey Sweeties,

Today I’m going to share one of my drawings and colorings from the 52-week Index Card Art Challenge, hosted by Mrs. Pham of Livie’s Lovelies by Pham. Unfortunately, I am behind terribly, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still do it.

I believe this is an April word. I know I shorted myself one word when I called myself doing all the words for the month. But, as I said in the video, I will take this one step at a time and one word at a time. I think I said that in this video.

The word I’m working on here is Dream. We all know what dreams are and when we have them. If you watch the video, I explain how I feel about dreams. Be sure to watch it, even though I didn’t mention it until after making this video. Christian inspired me from BlackBean CMS on YouTube. The use of color is what got me. I’m not a big fan of coloring, but I’ll do it if I have to do it. I love making colors, but that doesn’t mean I have to use them. I know that sounds crazy. Also, I’m not too fond of how icing feels on my hands. Yet, I like decorating cakes.

April’s Projects

Hey Sweeties,

This month, I feel like I was at my best. Not cramming everything at the end of the month. Enjoying and sharing the projects in a peaceful manner. However you say it, I’m happy with it.

Here, I’ll be talking about my monthly projects all in one post. The WBCM PICS page One-Word Prompt, Livie’s Lovelies Index Card Art and Artsy Solutions’ Monthly Blog Challenge.

One-Word Prompt

I really love puzzles. As a kid, I would spend hours putting them together. Not your everyday 300-piece puzzles, but 2,000+ pieces.
