I’ll show you the actual butterfly journal in today’s post—the butterfly journal I was supposed to use with the Sweet Stuff digital…yeah, that one. You’ll know what I’m talking about if you see the big butterfly video.
I watched Einat Kessler’s video on making a butterfly album. I loved it! I thought to myself; I need to make something easy like that. Why do I have to be so complicated? So I made an example journal with my Liquids & Flowers paper pack and recorded the video using the August Peach paper pack. Both are 6×6 paper packs.
In Einat’s video, she made all of her pages like graduating cookie cutters, while I made mine like stairs. I don’t believe I made my spine as big as hers. I called myself writing them on the pages, but I also included them in the video description.

Here are the measurements for my journal:
- Leave the cover sheet 12 inches long, but cut it to 6 1/4. It will measure 6 1/4 in. by 12 in.—score at 5 in. and 7 in.
- Cut the first page to 6 1/4 in. by 11 in.—score at 4 3/4 in. and 6 1/4 in.
- Cut the second page to 6 1/4 in. by 10 in.—score at 4 1/2 in. and 5 1/2 in.
- Cut the third page to 6 1/4 in. by 9 in.—score at 4 1/4 in. and 4 3/4 in.
- Cut the fourth page to 6 1/4 in. by 8in.—score at 4 in., 4 1/8 in., and 3 7/8 in. Scoring at the 4-inch mark is optional. I did this because it made sewing on the fifth page easier.
- Cut the fifth page to 6 1/4 in. by 7 in.—score at 3 1/2.
- Leaving 1/8 of an inch on each side, glue the pages together.
- Decorate the pages as you wish.
