Color, Fussy Cut, Embellishments & More: Mixed Media Cookbook | Thelisha’s Crafts

Hey Sweeties,

I know it’s been a long while. I haven’t posted to my blog since July 26 or something like that. There has been so much going on between that time and now. If you want to know what’s been going on with me, check out the video below. But anyway, let’s get down to it.

I put together a project using my Breakfast Time digital. I made a cookbook with the most cooked breakfast items in my kitchen. There are a few tips in there as well. Some may be surprised that waffles aren’t on the list. I cook waffles, but for the number of waffles I need to cook, having two waffle irons isn’t enough. I will say, the pancake recipe in this book can be used as a waffle batter too. So hey, whoever this goes to didn’t completely miss out. I would love to get one of those waffle irons that you put the batter on one side and flip it to do the same on the other side. The thing is, I don’t have anywhere to put it. That would require letting go of some gadgets that I’m not ready to part ways with yet. I’m a baker as y’all know, so a lot of my gadgets are very much useful.

I had so much fun putting this together. The Breakfast Time digital started out with pancakes. I’ve been trying to draw some decent-looking pancakes for over a year now with no success. I was sitting with my daughter one night and asked her what should I draw. She said pancakes… Yeah, she took it there. So you know I had to make her proud. She already thinks I can fix and do everything. She thinks I know everything. Even after telling her and the boys that I am not a magician, a superhero, or a genius multiple times. Not to disappoint, I took it the extra mile and drew bacon, maple syrup, eggs, orange juice, and bread.

Here are a few pictures of the project. The only flip-through will be the flip-through in the video. Enjoy!

This cookbook will go up for sale in my store. At this time, there will only be one, but if you’d like to request one, let me know. I hope you enjoy the video, the post, and the story behind the digital. Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one.

April’s Projects

Hey Sweeties,

This month, I feel like I was at my best. Not cramming everything at the end of the month. Enjoying and sharing the projects in a peaceful manner. However you say it, I’m happy with it.

Here, I’ll be talking about my monthly projects all in one post. The WBCM PICS page One-Word Prompt, Livie’s Lovelies Index Card Art and Artsy Solutions’ Monthly Blog Challenge.

One-Word Prompt

I really love puzzles. As a kid, I would spend hours putting them together. Not your everyday 300-piece puzzles, but 2,000+ pieces.

Monthly Blog Challenge

Like the March project for Artsy Solutions, I made another shadow box.

WBCM PICS Page One-Word Prompts

Hey Sweeties,

I decided to take some inspiration from my own page. I decided to do the One-Word Prompt. I did all the words.

It wasn’t about putting a meaning to all the words as I do in The Word Book. It was more a make these words go with the month, the colors, and with something that’s celebrated this time of year. This time Mardi Gras fell in March, and it’s where I got the inspiration for my prompts, and this is how I got here.

Visit the PICS Page to get your inspiration. Its updated monthly.

The stencils and alcohol sprays can be found in my shop.

March Blog Challenge w/Artsy Solutions

Hey Sweeties,

This month for Mrs. Sonya’s challenge, I decided to make a shadow box clock.

This is a scrap project. Made from paper, I molded it into a pan and an oatmeal container. The flowers are made from Tim Holtz’s Tattered Florals dies (the large and the minis). I decoupaged with napkins she sent me in happy mail and added some gems off camera.

This may be a future tutorial on my Patreon we’ll see.

If you’d like to see the video, click here. There is also a second part to this project. This will be posted on March 29th.

Visit Mrs. Sonya here on WordPress at Multimedia Crafts Digital and YouTube.

March Index Card Art w/Livie’s Lovelies

Hey Sweeties,

This month, I took the index card art to a different level. I made flat cards for the first two months, and this time around, I didn’t want to do so.

I tried to stick with a bit of a grungy spring theme. Flowers, pinks, blues, yellows, and a few other colors.

At first, I didn’t like how it turned out. I got up, cleaned up, and walked away. I came back to add my finishing touches. Some gold…. I feel all my mixed media projects need gold or something related to it….well not my art journal pages.

I also recorded this in a different way. I decided to get a canvas blanket, roll it out, put my yoga mat under it, and created. This video is gonna be a bit of an odd one. I got up so many times. It’s easier to be at my desk creating versus being 3 feet away and unprepared. 🤣

Make sure yall check out what Mrs. Pham has going on in her shop and on her YouTube channel this month.

What is a “sídh”?… Wait, how do you even say that?

Hey Sweeties,

I know I don’t share many “journal with me” moments in a journal with me way, but I think I should start….maybe not using those words since they’re used so much or maybe because that doesn’t sound like me.

If you follow me outside of WordPress, I believe I put a peep in here and there of “The Word Book.” The word book is a magazine I prepped and decorated.

If you’d like to watch me create this piece, check out the video.

Thank You Card

Hey Sweeties,

I really don’t have much to say about this one because it’s a greeting card. 🤣 Everyone knows how I am about cards. I have to be in one of those moods to pop out a card… I guess this was that moment.

I painted, stamped, stenciled, drew, and used watercolor colored pencils. I made the card from scraps and “started ephemera.” I was in the moment when I made this card and I really like how it turned out.
